Betsy began riding when she was 8 years old and showing after her first year of lessons. She started at an English barn then Rode for a Saddleseat barn, Cleveland Park Stables in Greenville, SC, under renowned Saddlebred trainer Carroll Greenwell. Saddleseat quickly became her favorite type of riding.

She bought 4 yr old Saddlebred mare when she was 16, trained and showed very successfully in some local shows then sold her to a lesson program.

Betsy’s next acquisition was an 8 yr old 5 gaited Saddlebred gelding. She showed him in the Northeast in 5 gaited pleasure. He was chosen as the Saddlebred representative for The World Horse Expo in Baltimore 2 yrs in a row. He is now retired and will be used in the lesson program in the near future.

Betsy taught lessons to beginners through advanced for 2 years for Cleveland Park Stables as well as assisted in training. She introduced her riders to showing by entering them in academy classes.
